Hifn Announces Fully Integrated
7954 Security Processor
Network security and flow classification market leader Hifn announced the
introduction of the 7954 security processor designed to deliver business-class
VPN security performance at affordable SOHO/ROBO (Small Office Home Office/
Remote Office Branch Office) prices.
The 7954 is an advanced security co-processor designed for cost-sensitive,
SOHO/ROBO networking applications like VPN Broadband Routers, Residential
Gateways, wireless access points, VPN Edge Routers/Gateways, Firewall/VPN
Appliances and other Network and Customer Premise Equipment. The 7954's
high-speed LZS compression engines, and TKIP and AES CCMP support, makes it
ideal for wireless-applications.
"The 7954 provides all the security functionality at a price/performance
level
that precisely matches our customer's requirements in the broadband arena,"
said Glenn Haley, Hifn's broadband product manager. "Easy to embed, low
priced, and with a well-proven heritage, the 7954 security processor delivers
the best security solution available today."
The 7954 accelerates a variety of IPsec and SSL/TLS protocols, including
DES,
Triple DES, AES (with 128, 192, and 256-bit key lengths), and ARC4 encryption;
MD5, SHA-1 hashing and authentication; RSA, DSA, SSL, IKE, and Diffie-Hellman
public key support; 3,072-bit modular arithmetic and exponentiation, plus true
Random Number Generation. Hifn's signature LZS and MPPC compression engines
operate at 200 megabits per second, boosting overall system performance. A
dual host bus interface provides direct access to the MPC860 and to a
32-bit/64-bit, 33Mhz PCI host system. Future validation will take place to
support the MPC8260.
Coupled with the available 7954 API software development tools and
reference
boards, the 7954 can be readily designed into new systems, making it possible
for networking equipment manufacturers to substantially reduce the time needed
to take new products to market.
The 7954 is packaged in a 144-pin TQPF. The power requirement is 1.5 V core
and 3.3V I/O with typical power dissipation less than 0.8W.
