The main reasons that companies will look at Grid computing are power and
cost-efficiency. Grids are capable of running large-scale applications, as
well as lowering management costs.
Building a Grid, however, is not necessarily easy -- the main challenge
being
building a custom resource from scratch. Most every Grid is unique, and a
company has to comfortable with such a high level of customization.
It also is important for IT staffs to rewrite applications to fit a Grid
system, and companies also must have the funds to replace old systems with a
Grid systems, which can be costly.
However, Grids look to become increasingly more popular among enterprises,
and
those who are willing to take the risk of implementing a Grid system will be
the early adopters of the technology.
Within the next couple years, the Grid market should start to mature.

developments should be made by application vendors and individual vertical
industries, such as the financial sector.
In the financial sector, Grids can substantially lower risk by more clearly
manipulating data.
