MiLAN Introduces 9-Port Managed Layer 2+ Switch

MiLAN Technology Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of Communications Systems Inc, announced new Managed Layer-2+ switch networking products that enhance new and existing network infrastructures by adding security and provisioning services at the edge. MiLAN focuses on providing innovative and cost effective LAN, Wireless-LAN and Media Conversion networking products that leverage companies existing networks while offering the latest technology for future growth and enhancement.

The MIL-SME801P eight port 10/100 Mb per second UTP with one 100 Mb per second fiber port edge switch is a Managed Layer-2+ switch that features advanced bandwidth provisioning, access control and security that makes it the ultimate low-cost, high-performance switch for the edge. This managed switch provides flexibility and unsurpassed granularity in network access control. Key features unique to this switch include: Asynchronous per port Rate Limiting; 802.1x port security with RADIUS authentication; Dynamic IP Addressing through DHCP Client; SNMP and Web-based Firmware Image Upgrade; and a Secure Management VLAN.

These features allow for unprecedented access control and port management in an edge switch with mass firmware upgrade capabilities as new features become available. Other features include: IGMP Snooping; 802.1Q VLAN Tagging (supports up to 256 unique VLANs); 802.1p CoS; Dual Queue QoS; and SNMP/Web/Console Management.
