NETWORK APPLIANCE, FUJITSU SIEMENS EXPAND GRID PARTNERSHIP

Network Appliance Inc and Fujitsu Siemens Computers, announced that they will expand their partnership to offer European customers dedicated consulting resources coupled with a server and enterprise storage platform optimized for the Oracle Database environments. Through the partnership, the two companies will open a new state-of-the-art Center of Excellence (CoE) facility at Oracle Corp's Munich, Germany, campus. Dedicated experts and resources will be on-call at the CoE to help customers easily and cost-effectively deploy server and storage systems.

The new Oracle on NetApp and Fujitsu Siemens Computers CoE will provide Oracle database customers with the information and technology needed to size, configure and maximize their Oracle computing environments. The CoE will let customers view real-world scenarios and showcase live demonstrations for a better understanding of Oracle on Fujitsu Siemens Computers servers and NetApp enterprise storage systems. Additional services include Oracle database migration and installation, disaster recovery and performance tuning.

"Fujitsu Siemens Computers and NetApp have been working together over the past year including joint testing and validation of the combined technology running Oracle database clustering technology on Solaris and Linux," stated Dr. Helmut Beck, vice president of storage at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "The Center of Excellence and the integrated server and storage solution optimized for the Oracle Database will deliver huge benefits for customers including lowering cost and reducing complexity."

"Companies of all sizes can reap the performance, scalability and manageability benefits of having Fujitsu Siemens Computers servers and NetApp enterprise storage clusters integrated within the Oracle Database and Oracle grid computing environments," said Phil Williams, vice president of Global Alliances at Network Appliance. "By tightly integrating NetApp and Fujitsu Siemens Computers' superior solutions and services, customers now have one-stop access to the tools needed to increase storage management efficiency."

"The alliance between Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Network Appliance provides Oracle database customers with a trusted source that makes it easy to buy, deploy and deliver cost-effective enterprise solutions," said Stein Surlien, vice president of Alliances and Channels for Oracle EMEA . "Oracle database technology plays important part of that enterprise solution."

Earlier this year, both companies announced their joint technology would be used at Oracle's Enterprise Technology Centers (ETC) around the world. The ETCs are used to test and showcase a wide variety of Oracle products offerings including Oracle Collaboration Suite, Oracle Database clustering technology, and Oracle E-Business Suite, all running on Fujitsu Siemens Computers' servers and NetApp storage.

The two companies have also been selected as the premiere IT platform for OracleWorld Paris and Oracle AppsWorld London earlier this year. The companies will showcase real-time enterprise examples of Oracle technology running on Fujitsu Siemens Computers servers (either Intel-based PRIMERGY- or Solaris/SPARC-based PRIMEPOWER-Server) controlled by the company's PRIMECLUSTER product suite and NetApp storage environment, including Oracle Database clustering technology, Oracle E-Business Suite, and Oracle Collaboration Suite.
