IBM Unveils New Servers At CAE
Symposium In Germany
At IBM's 3rd Annual European Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) Symposium,
held
this week in Germany, IBM showcased, for the first time at the symposium, new
CAE-related products including the Intel Xeon-based IBM eServer BladeCenter
and IBM's first AMD Opteron processor-based server, the eServer 325.
IBM demonstrated a broad scope of the latest UNIX and Linux system
developments for CAE applications that are used to accelerate civil,
structural, automotive, defense and aerospace development cycles. Participants
also discussed strategies and best practices in 64-bit processors and data
management.
HPC customers were also on hand, sharing their experience using IBM's
supercomputing products for design, analysis and simulation.
Dave Turek, vice president of Deep Computing at IBM, opened the CAE
Symposium
with an overview of IBM's engagement in HPC and Deep Computing
organization.
"IBM's continued success in high performance computing is due to our
ability
to redefine the underlying fabric of Deep Computing as an avenue for true
business transformation," said Turek. "Our Deep Computing team brings a
comprehensive approach to our high performance computing efforts by combining
our research initiatives and industry expertise with high-performance hardware
and software products, sophisticated services and open standards that help
customers gain insight to transform their business. While some of the most
ambitious work often happens in government labs, the potential for Deep
Computing breakthroughs in areas as diverse as drug and product design,
simulation and animation, financial and weather modeling is almost
unlimited."
