webMethods Completes Acquisition Of The Mind Electric

webMethods Inc, the industry's first Web services infrastructure company, announced that it has completed the acquisition of The Mind Electric Inc (TME), a leading provider of software for service-oriented architectures. This strategic acquisition provides webMethods with the industry's first non-proprietary and vendor neutral solution for deploying secure, scalable and 100 percent standards-based Service-Oriented Architectures.

"The acquisition of The Mind Electric by webMethods marks an end to traditional, proprietary integration and the beginning of 100 percent standards-based Web services infrastructure for a true Enterprise Service- Oriented Architecture," said Phillip Merrick, chairman and CEO of webMethods. "For the first time, customers will have a vendor neutral solution, which non-invasively enhances any Web services implementation."

Until now, businesses have had to purchase expensive and proprietary bridging technologies due to the lack of standardization in computing. Now, webMethods offers customers with a high performance Web services Fabric (previously known as GAIA) with features necessary for deploying and managing true Enterprise Service-Oriented Architectures. Additionally, TME's GLUE technology, now called webMethods GLUE, provides the most productive approach for creating, managing and deploying Web services and is supported by a passionate developer community.
