VMware Receives Support From
Leading Software Companies
VMware Inc, a global leader in virtual machine software for Intel-based
systems, announced growing support from a host of leading software companies,
including BMC Software, Citrix, Computer Associates, IBM Software Group (DB2,
Rational, Tivoli, Websphere), Novell, Oracle and VERITAS, and open source
platform providers, including Red Hat and SUSE LINUX. These vendors are the
latest to join the VMware partner ecosystem, which already includes
industry-leading OEM hardware vendors such as Dell, Fujitsu Siemens Computers,
HP, IBM, NEC and Unisys.
These leading software vendors and open source platform providers offer
support for their products running in VMware virtual machines and, in some
instances, have developed integrations with selected VMware products. In the
case of open source platform providers, Red Hat and SUSE LINUX, both support
VMware products running on their version of the Linux operating system.
The extensive list of partners demonstrates the widespread industry
acceptance
of VMware software and underscores the value of running applications in
virtual machines. VMware, with its strong ecosystem of partners, continues to
lead the market in providing innovative virtualization products.
"BMC Software and VMware are collaborating to deliver a common vision that
will provide enterprise environments with consolidated workloads and enhanced
scalability at lower total costs using VMware software and BMC Software's
leading enterprise management solutions," said Mary Smars, vice president and
general manager of enterprise systems management for BMC Software. "We look
forward to working with VMware to provide our mutual customers with maximum
business benefits."
"CA is committed to ensuring that our customers reap the full benefits of
on-demand computing," said David Hochhauser, vice president of Unicenter brand
management at Computer Associates. "The combination of Unicenter and VMware's
CA smart-certified ESX Server and GSX Server enables well-managed, dynamic
provisioning of Intel-based computing resources in response to ever-changing
business requirements."
"VMware ESX Server's features and capabilities, together with Novell's
NetWare
6.5 and Enterprise Linux Services, deliver a truly valuable ROI opportunity
and simplified deployment in a heterogeneous environment. We're enthusiastic
and committed to our partnership with VMware because of the immense value it
brings to customers," said Doug Knight, vice president of Nterprise business
development at Novell.
"In keeping with VERITAS' strategy to enable utility computing across
complex,
heterogeneous IT environments, VERITAS is working with VMware to bring high
availability and data protection capabilities to VMware virtual machines,"
said Robert Soderbery, vice president of business development for VERITAS
Software. "VMware's products offer powerful choices for customers to deploy
applications with increased flexibility and scalability, and our joint efforts
are aimed at making these environments enterprise-grade."
"VMware is committed to growing our partnerships with industry-leading
software companies to provide our joint customers with innovative solutions
for virtualizing their IT infrastructure," said Michael Mullany, vice
president of marketing for VMware. "These strong partnerships with
customer-responsive software companies enable VMware to develop compelling
joint solutions for customers who want the flexibility and efficiency of next
generation computing models."
