FileNet DELIVERS JAVA APPLICATION CONTENT CONNECTIVITY

FileNet Corp, a leading provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions, announced general availability of its FileNet Image Services Resource Adapter (ISRA), which provides connectivity from applications built on Sun Microsystems' Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE), a distributed computing development framework, to content managed within FileNet Image Services repositories.

ISRA, compliant with and built to the J2EE 1.3/Java Connector Architecture (JCA) 1.0 specifications, provides a Java-based solution to address connectivity between application servers and legacy enterprise information systems.

The solution is designed specifically for industries that have large-scale integrated content management systems in place. ISRA offers a cost-effective way to repurpose this existing information in new ways as they begin to replace older client/server models with a kind of distributed computing in which a central server acts as an information hub.

For instance, customers with existing case management applications that leverage FileNet Image Services repositories can create a J2EE application to deliver case documents back to the originator as part of a Web-based customer service application. By using ISRA the customer would not need to deploy a third-party application or build a custom application to provide connectivity from the new application to the existing repository.

"ISRA enables enterprises to expand the use of the information they already have in their repositories to solve new business problems through Java-based applications, enhancing the return on investment of their legacy applications," said Dave Caldeira, vice president of Product Marketing for FileNet Corporation.

ISRA supports BEA WebLogic 8.1 and 7.0 SP2 and IBM WebSphere 4.0.4AE application servers and AIX 4.3.3 and above, HP/UX 11.0 and above, Windows 2000 and Sun Solaris 8.0 and above.
