Altiris Deployment Solution
Standard On HP Compaq Thin Client
Altiris Inc, a leader in systems management solutions that reduce the total
cost of owning information technology, announced that Altiris Deployment
Solution will be standard on new HP Compaq thin client t5000 series. Altiris
management solutions offer leading systems manageability of HP PCs, servers
and thin clients. Altiris Deployment Solution helps reduce the cost of
managing these devices by automating system deployment and maintenance from a
single Web-based management console.
"Lack of awareness and the pain of transitioning from traditional PC-based
environments, both physically and philosophically, have hampered acceptance of
enterprise thin clients," said Bob O'Donnell, research director of Device
Technology at IDC. "However, the obstacles that have plagued the thin client
market are not new and many companies are working to make the process of
planning, deploying, configuring, transitioning, and using thin clients much
easier."
According to new research from IDC, enterprise thin clients will be shipped
at
a rate of 3.4 million units worldwide in 2007, up from just 1.5 million in
2003, a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 22.8 percent.

Altiris Deployment Solution software is offered standard with every HP
Compaq
t5000 series unit, enabling easier setup and maintenance of HP thin clients.
Of major thin client manufacturers, only HP offers a single software solution
that allows customers to manage thin clients, PCs and servers from the same
management solution.
