Demand Grows For Oracle
Application Server
Oracle Corp, a large enterprise software company, and Tata Consultancy
Services (TCS), one of the world's largest global software solutions and
consulting services firm, announced growing demand in the integration
capabilities of Oracle Application Server coupled with TCS services and
industry expertise.
As a worldwide Certified Advantage Partner of the Oracle PartnerNetwork,
TCS
has teamed with Oracle globally to implement a complete and integrated
standards-based infrastructure for running Web Applications. Customers who
benefit from the TCS and Oracle solution include Atul Industries, Cummins,
McGraw-Hill, P&O and Tower Insurance.
"Oracle and TCS have been teaming together for more than 13 years," said
Thomas Kurian, senior vice president of Oracle Application Server Development
at Oracle. "This joint commitment ultimately benefits our customers by
providing world-class services based on high-performing and reliable products
that help customers optimize business process."
TCS is one of a growing list of global system integrators to establish
practices for Oracle Application Server. Oracle Application Server is the
first application server to bundle J2EE, integration, portal and other
middleware features into a single product. Today, customers realize the
benefits of Oracle Application Server as the most complete offering with
unsurpassed features at a low price point.
"TCS is one of the first global system integrators to recognize the
strengths
of Oracle Application Server which led to us building a dedicated practice
around it," said N. Chandrasekaran, vice president and e-Business practice
director at Tata Consultancy Services. "The successful results that we have
achieved and the momentum around Oracle Application Server witnessed in the
market today, reaffirms our belief in supporting this leading technology and
its integrated middleware capabilities."
Customers Seek Oracle And TCS Solutions
TCS-Oracle customer, The Tower group, is a highly diversified financial
services organization in Australia and New Zealand, and offers a comprehensive
portfolio of products. With 18 different software systems that did not
communicate with each other, business users found it impossible to gather and
consolidate data across the organization. Users had to resort to manually
collating results from individual systems. In order to solve this problem,
Tower decided to look to the integration capabilities of Oracle Application
Server, with the help of TCS, which delivered a solution to provide
consolidated sales and commission information across various financial
instruments offered by Tower.
The McGraw-Hill Companies, a leader in providing trusted information and
analysis for well over a century, had multiple legacy systems to support
different business units, which led to the need to maintain different pieces
of customer data in multiple places. The legacy systems had very little
flexibility, and it became extremely difficult to incorporate business process
changes into the various systems. McGraw-Hill turned to TCS, which implemented
Oracle Application Server to integrate business applications and improve
customer service, increase revenue and reduce the complexity in managing
future growth.
"McGraw-Hill looked for an implementation partner that was strong in domain
and technology expertise," said Mr. John Marshall, project manager for the
Horizon Project at McGraw-Hill. "TCS deployed Oracle technology, utilizing the
integration capabilities of Oracle Application Server for the middle-tier, to
provide McGraw-Hill with a single customer view and contract repository for
multiple business units, remove the requirement to manage multiple disparate
systems and provide a more reliable and scalable environment for our global
operations."
