Idea Integration Develops New GIS
Web Application
Idea Integration, the e-business consulting and systems integration
solutions
unit of MPS Group, announced the completion of a geographic information system
(GIS) based Web application project for the Georgia Transmission Corporation
(GTC).
This newly developed solution, called GTCView, is an ArcIMS Web application
that integrates Georgia Transmission's maps, databases and image files, which
currently are available in separate areas of GTC, into a single common
interface. Idea partnered with Photo Science Inc, the primary GIS contractor
for GTC, to develop this Web application. Integration of GTC's Geographic
Information System and the existing corporate database into a common
application interface increases usability of information across the
enterprise. GTC realizes cost savings through Idea by developing a custom
application that leverages standard Internet technologies and provides
browser-based user access to information across the organization.
"We appreciate the technical and strategic expertise Idea contributed to
this
project," said Jesse Glasgow, GTC operations manager. "We value our
relationship with Idea and would definitely recommend Idea to other
clients."
"The teams involved in this project quickly developed a strong working
relationship, and that was instrumental to the success of this project," added
Vince Rosales, senior director for Idea Integration. "GTCView is a powerful
tool that leverages the power of Internet and GIS technology. It will be a
great asset for Georgia Transmission Corporation moving forward."
