SCO Advances SCOx Initiative With
Web Service Development
The SCO Group (SCO), a leading provider of business software solutions,
announced the release of a key component of the company's SCOx initiative --
SCOx WebFace Solution Suite 4.0. SCOx WebFace and other SCOx technologies
provide SCO customers with a cost-effective solution to migrate existing
legacy applications onto the Web, integrate service-oriented architectures,
easily build next generation Web applications, and Web Services-enable SCO
operating system services.
SCOx WebFace Solution Suite -- consisting of the WebFace Browser
Application
Platform and WebFace Studio -- adds a significant component to the SCOx
Application Substrate and provides a powerful and easy way to Web Service-
enable applications and SCO operating system services. SCO customers and
developers can now cost-effectively create and deploy next generation Web
applications in a feature-rich, secure, intelligent Web application interface.
This innovative solution suite also allows SCO customers to create and deploy
powerful Web Service-enabled Web applications and services on both SCO and
non-SCO operating systems.
"Our overall focus has always been to deliver innovative technologies to
help
customers grow their business," said Bruce Grant, senior director of SCOx
Engineering, The SCO Group. "Our SCOx initiative provides the technologies our
customers need now to take advantage of emerging Web Services. These
technologies also promise to make our operating system customers more
productive, cost efficient and agile. We believe that SCOx WebFace will play
an important role in delivering the type of solution that our customers need
now and will want in the future."
SCOx WebFace and other SCOx technologies are built on industry standards
(such
as XML, SOAP and UDDI) and are supported by a highly skilled professional
services team with years of experience in Java, .NET and other Web development
technologies. The latest release of SCOx WebFace includes enhanced Web
Services management and support. The product also includes new business
components to streamline Web application development, such as multi-window
interoperability, monthly calendar, stylesheets, date picker, cacheable
windows (optional), enhanced grid functionality, multiple browser window
support and button-triggered task execution.
"In the financial services industry, there is a strong movement toward a
Web
Services-enabled online environment. Web Services will allow customers to
interact with their financial data in ways never before possible. Web Services
will enable seamless interoperability between financial institutions, their
customers and application service providers like In2M," said Nicholas Thomas,
vice president and chief technology officer at In2M Corporation. "SCOx WebFace
has allowed us to develop a feature-rich interface for our Mvelopes Personal
online budgeting service, which interfaces with online financial institutions.
SCOx WebFace is specifically designed to help Mvelopes' users have the same
rich experience on the Web as they do with their PC applications."
