SAS Teams With e-Security To
Bolster Enterprise Defenses
SAS, a leader in business intelligence, and e-Security Inc, a leading
global
provider of enterprise security management (ESM) software, announced that they
will jointly offer an enterprise security solution that allows corporations to
store, manage and analyse years of historical data, powering the
identification and remediation of network attacks in real-time. All the while,
companies will be strengthening and fortifying their enterprise networks
against future attacks, by incorporating historical data into the real-time
correlation engine.
The joint solution, consisting of the SAS IT Security Management and e-
Security's ESM solution, satisfies an emerging market need. Currently, it is
difficult for large enterprises to perform trend analysis and advanced
analytics on multiple terabytes of historical security data, greatly hindering
their ability to proactively secure their networks and learn from past
events.
"The addition of advanced analytics to the ability to monitor diverse
security
events relevant to an enterprise is a key development," said Chris King,
senior program director at IT analyst firm META Group. "Many organizations
will need both monitoring and analytics elements to efficiently manage
security information, and effectively detect and respond to an increasing
variety of threats across a large, complex computing environment."
Of particular significance will be the solution's ability to analyse
security
events in the context of historical data and other information about the
environment. The ability to incorporate known vulnerabilities and the
criticality of the target system surfaces events in terms of business risk.
The e-Security-SAS solution provides the first means of leveraging historical
data to tune false positives and gauge the impact of an attack.
"Combining the business intelligence and analytical capabilities of SAS
with
the ESM solutions of e-Security will provide organizations with the real-time
ability to leverage data gathered from past experiences and secure their
enterprises for today and tomorrow," said Daniel Minto, SAS' director of
worldwide strategy of IT management solutions.
The joint solution will allow large organizations a central point of
storage
and analysis of all of their security data. Complex security environments that
include multiple firewalls, intrusion detection systems, vulnerability data
and other IT defenses can be analysed in context through a single interface.
As a result, enterprises using the joint solution will reap greater efficiency
and effectiveness in their security operations and more easily achieve
compliance with internal security policies, audit requirements and government
regulations.
"Large organizations will finally have a powerful solution for improving
the
overall security level of their enterprise by effectively managing all
security events occurring in their organization," said Joseph P. Payne,
president and CEO of e-Security Inc. "By combining the statistical power and
data warehousing of SAS with the real-time security management of e-Security,
organizations will greatly improve their effectiveness of all its security
operations."
