iAnywhere Solutions and SuSE Linux Unveil Alliance

iAnywhere Solutions Inc, a subsidiary of Sybase Inc, is working with SuSE Linux in a technology alliance that provides access to continuing Linux developments at SuSE as well as support for the optimization of SQL Anywhere Studio for SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8.

"With SQL Anywhere Studio, our customers now have access to one of the market leading solutions for mobile data management," said Uwe Heine, chief alliance officer at SuSE Linux. "As a result, these companies can take advantage of new opportunities for realizing technically advanced and innovative solutions under a secure and flexible server operating system."

"Linux has become increasingly important for medium-sized firms and large corporations due to the cost benefits it provides and its efficiency," said Mike Darabos, Manager Strategic Projects Europe, at iAnywhere Solutions. "Partnering with SuSE will help iAnywhere Solutions to reach an even broader base within this growing community of Linux developers."

SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 offers corporate users a secure, stable and reliable platform on which to build next generation applications. This alliance enables SuSE customers to leverage SQL Anywhere Studio, the market- leading database for mobile, embedded and small to medium sized business environments, to create flexible, reliable database-powered enterprise applications.

In addition to iAnywhere Solutions, several leading producers of hardware and applications such as AMD, Borland, Computer Associates, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Fujitsu Japan, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Intel, NEC, Progress Software and SAP are also supporting the SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8. SuSE Linux not only reduces the amount of effort and expenditure required to test compatibility but, above all, it allows more rapid and efficient development of application software for the standardized Linux operating system.
