ManagedStorage International Critical Data With NetScreen

NetScreen Technologies Inc announced that ManagedStorage International (MSI) has selected NetScreen's security solutions to secure back-up data and resources for its RemoteStor service customers.

MSI's RemoteStor service is a data protection solution where customers utilize virtual private network (VPN) connections for backing up and enhancing their disaster recovery capabilities at secure off-site facilities. As the company's RemoteStor volume increased, MSI searched for another VPN solution to enhance the performance and throughput of data across the network.

After a thorough evaluation, MSI selected and installed at its data centers NetScreen-204 appliances, which offer 400 Mbps of firewall performance and 200 3DES IPSec VPN performance with support for up to 128,000 sessions, to serve as VPN concentrators and effectively secure critical customer data resources and create secure encrypted transmission tunnels from the end customer site to the company's data centers. Because NetScreen's appliances are built on IPSec VPN industry standards, they are interoperable with other IPSec VPN products. As a result, MSI can take advantage of the robust security and VPN functionality provided in the NetScreen-204 appliances while maintaining its current investment in IPSec VPN technology.

However, for those customers that do not have a current VPN solution and/or wish to upgrade to NetScreen devices, MSI will offer NetScreen-5XPs, which provide up to 20 Mbps firewall and 13 Mbps of 3DES VPN performance with support for 2,000 concurrent sessions and 10 VPN tunnels, to facilitate secure, high-performance VPN connections to MSI's data centers.
