DataSynapse Announces Grid Enablement For IBM Linux

DataSynapse Inc., provider of the leading grid middleware for enabling applications for on demand computing, announced the grid-enabling of IBM's eServer pSeries platform for Linux with DataSynapse's award winning GridServer. DataSynapse's GridServer enables customers to harness eServer pSeries platforms to operate as part of a virtual grid supercomputer, leveraging the scalable POWER platform to incrementally tap existing or new resources to meet application peak processing scalability requirements.

With DataSynapse's application enablement strategy that support batch, object and web services oriented interfaces, organizations legacy and next generation Linux applications can now readily take advantage of the high performance, high-availability functionality of the eServer pSeries systems. Organizations virtual application operating environment will be able to migrate peak processing application servicing to leverage the inherent performance characteristics of the pSeries platform to ensure optimal service levels and cost structures are met.

This enablement support is being showcased as part of the IBM demonstration at Linux World creating application operating environment where resources from Intel-based systems to mainframe processors are operating in a virtual Linux network solution that supports application servicing across the distributed grid. The pSeries processor recognized & profiled in the grid as the best high performance-computing platform for servicing compute intensive application requests. This demonstration has been designated a finalist for best in class solution.

"DataSynapse supporting Linux on POWER, in addition to AIX, is part of a growing trend of industry leading applications that leverage the proven advantages and on-demand features of the POWER architecture with both operating systems," said Chuck Bryan, Director of Linux on pSeries, IBM. "Now DataSynapse customers that want Linux to exploit a native 64-bit environment have the option of the most advanced 64-bit processor available today in POWER. These customers can now do more with less, taking advantage of Linux on POWER features such as logical partitioning to simultaneously run multiple Linux servers on a single pSeries server.

The IBM eServer pSeries for Linux platform provides customers with a high performance platform that is ideal for complex, compute intensive application servicing requirements, says Tony Bishop, vice president, DataSynapse. By leveraging IBM eServer pSeries platform as part of the Grid, we are able to help our enterprise customers across Financial Services, Industrial and Public Sector organizations meet and exceed their application processing requirements in a scalable, cost-effective manner.
