Breaking News - Operating Systems & Middleware:

BEA Liquid Data For WebLogic 8.1 Ships

BEA Systems, Inc., a leading application infrastructure software company, announced the general availability of BEA Liquid Data for WebLogic 8.1, which is designed to provide a single point of access to enterprise information to accelerate time-to-value of portals, web applications and business processes. The new product broadens BEA's portfolio of infrastructure software products and is integrated with the recently announced BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1.

BEA Liquid Data for WebLogic is part of a new software segment called enterprise information integration. This technology can allow applications to access and combine information on demand from distributed and varied collections of data silos in order to provide people and systems with a complete view of their operations. According to an Aberdeen Group report (July 2003), enterprise information integration software is poised for growth and implementation by a wide variety of Fortune 1000 companies.

BEA Liquid Data for WebLogic 8.1 supports the new versions of the BEA WebLogic products, including BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1. Using BEA WebLogic Workshop 8.1, the common development environment of BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1, data architects and administrators can turn enterprise views of data into BEA WebLogic Workshop controls. The controls can provide developers up to four- times the productivity by simplifying access to disparate business information, and through reuse of data services across projects.

This rapid development model can accelerate by up to 60 percent the time to value for portals, Web services, integration and Web application projects, such as customer service and customer self-service portals or executive dashboards. BEA also has improved the distributed query engine of BEA Liquid Data 8.1 in order to deliver scalable, complex join processing transactions. Lastly, BEA has expanded the data source support in the product, and new feature support for BEA WebLogic Portal 8.1 and BEA WebLogic Integration 8.1 has been added.

"Customers see that data integration is a key element to help portals improve user efficiency by providing the right information at the right time," said David Folger, vice president, META Group. "As such, customers today are searching for information integration products to make their internal and external portals smarter."

BEA Liquid Data for WebLogic 8.1 is designed to provide the most cost- effective way to rapidly aggregate critical business information in real time from diverse data sources, to include databases, XML files, CSV files, Web applications, packaged applications and more. BEA Liquid Data 8.1 can increase information visibility and accelerate business results by turning enterprise data into complete, consistent and tailored business views. These logical views of information can quickly aggregate the latest real-time information from both inside and outside large organizations, and deliver these views as business information services within organization's service-oriented architecture.

"BEA Liquid Data provides technical architects with a new tool to alleviate the headaches of information management and data aggregation from a variety of databases, subsystems and external applications," said Kevin Pollari, partner in charge of Accenture's Java development group. "The potential benefits of BEA Liquid Data are enticing, and Accenture has several pilot projects underway. We believe that Liquid Data can help improve data access in complex enterprise applications."
