Latis Networks Introduces Cost-Effective Gigabit IPS
Latis Networks, Inc., a leading network security software provider to
enterprises, released StillSecure Border Guard v4.1. Border Guard is a
comprehensive family of intrusion prevention products that reduce the risk and
liability from network attacks. Key new features in Border Guard v4.1 include
gigabit level performance, Accessible Device Protection, centralized rule
management, and several high- impact usability and performance enhancements.
StillSecure Border Guard continues to set the standard in the intrusion
prevention systems (IPS) category with comprehensive techniques for attack
detection, highly-developed algorithms to eliminate false positives, powerful
attack blocking capabilities, and detailed reporting.
Introduction of StillSecure Border Guard GigE
With this release, Latis introduces StillSecure Border Guard GigE, the first
cost-effective gigabit IPS. GigE adds enterprise-level scalability and real-
time gigabit level performance to the Border Guard product family. Border
Guard GigE has been specifically tuned to handle high traffic and high attack
environments for enterprise organizations. The new product is offered as a
hardware appliance solution that includes one-day of engineer delivered tuning
services to optimize GigE for the customer's network environment.
New in v4.1
Organizations today are being attacked at unprecedented levels overwhelming IT
staff. StillSecure Border Guard v4.1 increases the efficiency of IT resources
by focusing only on attacks that pose real threats. V4.1 introduces
StillSecure exclusive technology, Accessible Device Protection (ADP). ADP
enables administrators to discover all accessible devices with active ports on
their networks thereby detecting which devices are at risk from attack. Border
Guard creates a shield around these vulnerabilities by blocking malicious
traffic destined for the accessible device and port. Conversely, attacks that
are not targeted at accessible devices, based on user preference, can be
safely ignored, thereby dramatically reducing the level of false positives.
Enterprises deploying multiple instances of StillSecure Border Guard can save
time, increase protection, and ensure consistency by using centralized rule
sets. From a single Web-based StillSecure Console, Multi-node manager can
either share rule sets among multiple Border Guard instances or assign a
specific rule set to a single node. Whenever rules are updated or added to a
shared rule set, each Border Guard instance in the group automatically starts
using the new rules.
Also in StillSecure Border Guard v4.1 are a number of usability and
performance enhancements. Each Border Guard instance can now manage multiple
network segments saving organizations significant deployment and
administrative cost. V4.1 provides new features for searching the active rule
set, for tracing rule update activity, and for viewing server and
configuration diagnostics. In addition, Border Guard has been enhanced to
increase usability for ever increasing traffic levels.
"StillSecure Border Guard's unique Accessible Device Protection will
dramatically reduce the number of false positives we see," said Shannon
Johnson, network security engineer at Liberty Cavion, a company that
specializes in secure Internet connectivity solutions for Credit Unions. "It
will also help us become more efficient by identifying and eliminating rules
that do not apply to our network and prioritize our attack responses."
"StillSecure Border Guard v4.1 is a dramatic step forward for the IPS
industry. We've now virtually eliminated all false positives, freeing IT
staffs to focus on real security issues," said Rajat Bhargava, President and
CEO of Latis Networks. "Furthermore, I'm proud to announce the first truly
cost-effective gigabit level intrusion prevention system on the market. Latis
continues to deliver on its promise to provide easy-to-use, affordable, and
innovative security solutions."
