UNITED DEVICES BRINGS ENTERPRISE
GRIDS TO JAPAN
United Devices, a market leader in secure grid solutions, announced that
Sumisho Electronics Co Ltd, a leading IT solutions provider, will be a key
distributor of the company's Grid MPTM 4.0 grid-computing software. Sumisho
chose United Devices over several competitors due to the company's abundant
experience building large-scale, secure, enterprise grid environments.
"We have been providing high-performance computing solutions to businesses
and
research institutions for twenty years and believe the focus of that market
will shift to the effective employment of underutilized compute resources,"
said Kyoji Inomata, vice president, Engineering Solution Division at Sumisho
Electronics. "As a result of our intense evaluation into the scalability,
flexibility, security and ease of deployment of the appropriate software,
Sumisho has selected United Devices' Grid MP platform as the most suitable
solution for Japanese enterprise customers."
The Grid MP Enterprise software platform allows for extremely flexible and
scalable on-site grid deployments. The software harnesses the latent power of
clusters, servers, desktops and even notebooks, allowing companies to maximize
the value of existing resources and to benefit from the resulting increase in
computational power. Additional features of the software include
virtualization and control for resources, users, policies and applications as
well as support for Message Passing Interface.
"Our software has proven its' scalability and security time and time again,
in
massive customer deployments and through the 2.3 million-device global
research grid," said Paul Kirchoff, vice president of marketing and business
development at United Devices. "Validation from Japan's most experienced
integrator indicates that our value proposition is appropriate for all
enterprise customers regardless of industry or geography. We're proud to have
Sumisho as a key partner in satisfying the demand from Japan's top
high-performance-computing customers."
Sumisho will introduce the 'Grid MP Starter Kit' for pilot deployments. The
kit will include Grid MP 4.0 server software and 50 device licenses as well as
a service support package. After initial evaluation, customers can add
arbitrary licenses to build their own large-scale grid environments. Through
the joint marketing and distribution agreement, both companies expect first
year sales to exceed 2,000 licenses.
