The Mercury News has reported that Japanese electronics giant Sony and

Linux, a competing and free operating system.
The group to promote Linux includes five other Japanese companies --

Sharp; and Toshiba, as well as Royal Philips Electronics of the Netherlands
and Samsung Electronics of South Korea.
