PFIZER SELECTS AVAKI COMPREHENSIVE GRID SOFTWARE

Avaki Corporation, a leader in commercial grid software solutions, announced that Pfizer Inc. has selected Avaki Comprehensive Grid software to provide researchers with automated, secure, wide-area access to research data and compute power across its global research sites. Avaki Comprehensive Grid Software provides Pfizer researchers with immediate access to the data and compute power that is critical to their drug discovery efforts.

Avaki's software will help Pfizer to optimize collaborative research by allowing data and compute power to be shared more easily across the company's sites around the world. With Avaki Comprehensive Grid, Pfizer now has the capability to securely exchange data with its partners to bring together information critical to the discovery process, while protecting sensitive intellectual property.

Within the life sciences market, data that is critical to research and discovery tends to be distributed across multiple locations, difficult to access, time-consuming and complicated to administer, and inconsistently named - leading to data that is often out of sync. Avaki's data grid software simplifies the enormous complexity associated with accessing data resources, significantly reducing administrative burdens associated with managing distributed data. Without Avaki Data Grid, researchers are often forced to conduct time-consuming tasks associated with manually sharing critical data.

Avaki Data Grid will provide Pfizer's scientists with a software-based, federated data access solution that enables the seamless sharing of genomic data among geographically dispersed sites and administrative domains. With Avaki Data Grid, researchers who have been granted access are able to view the most up to date version of the data, while the authoritative copy stays where it is, under the control of local administrators. This automated approach provides a uniform environment that is easy for researchers to use and for IT professionals to administer, maintains a high level of security, ensures consistency of data across the organization, and guarantees access to the most current data available. Avaki Data Grid will eliminate Pfizer's need for complex replication infrastructures and will allow researchers to focus on more critical tasks.

"Avaki grid software solution is being embraced by organizations in the life sciences as a secure method for sharing valuable information between researchers, without adding costs or administrative complexity," said Tim Yeaton, Avaki's president. "The fact that Pfizer, one of the largest companies in the world, is relying on Avaki solutions is a true testament to the value our unique software brings to the enterprise. We are thrilled to be working with Pfizer, and look forward to helping them achieve their business objectives."

Avaki Comprehensive Grid allows companies to share compute power over a wide area, and create a federated data service, which enables the secure sharing of data among wide-area, multi-organizational users and applications. With Avaki Data Grid, companies eliminate costly organizational and technical barriers to data sharing, while creating a flexible, J2EE-based access infrastructure that installs quickly and easily, and scales to meet business requirements.
