TeraChip Introduces TeraFlex
Switch Fabric Interface
TeraChip Inc., a provider of next-generation switch fabrics, announced at
NPC2003 East the availability of the TCI1X2 switch fabric interface, an
integral part of the Company's family of fully scalable silicon solutions.
Empowered by TeraFlex technology, the TCI1X2 supports several interface
protocols for traffic managers (TMs) and network processor units (NPUs).
The TCI1X2 complements TeraChip's groundbreaking TCF16X10 shared-memory
fabric, which switches 160Gbps on a single 15W chip. Together, the TCI1X2 and
TCF16X10 create a chip set representing the market's most integrated switching
solution, which is scalable to 1.28Tbps.
"The TCI1X2 enables TeraChip's switch fabric to operate with various
traffic
managers and network processors," said Jag Bolaria, Senior Analyst at The
Linley Group. "This high level of flexibility creates a best-of-breed solution
for switch vendors"
Scalable from 10Gbps-to-40Gbps per line card, the TCI1X2 features 1:1
protection along with automatic fault recovery and switchover, high-efficiency
channel encoding, and end-to-end flow control designed to support fabric
behavior in extreme over-subscribed traffic scenarios.
Empowered by TeraFlex technology, the TCI1X2 offers CSIX- and SPI4.2-based
interfaces to market-leading third-party TMs and NPUs. "Recognizing that no
two systems are alike, we have leveraged our breakthrough silicon technology
to develop an 'open fabric interface'," said Micha Zeiger, TeraChip founder
and CEO. "With TeraFlex, the TCI1X2 offers a best-in-class solution for
customers who are either building a new switching solution or looking to
upgrade an existing one."
