Networking:
Morgan Kaufmann And OPNET Team Up
For Network Manual
Morgan Kaufmann Publishers announced the forthcoming publication of the
"Network Simulation Experiments Manual," the first book of its kind to fully
integrate OPNET software, the industry standard for application profiling and
IT modeling. Prepared by Professor Emad Aboelela, University of Massachusetts
at Dartmouth, this unique lab manual provides professionals with practical
experience to analyze networking technologies and reinforces fundamental
networking theory.
"This manual will provide networking professionals with the option of
implementing experiments from their homes or workplaces -- something that's
been missing from the marketplace far too long," said Rick Adams, Senior
Editor at Morgan Kaufmann. "Working with OPNET on this book, having a
distinguished author such as Professor Aboelela, and being able to offer
networking professionals the software, unique to this lab manual only, has
been a rewarding experience," he added.
The labs included in this manual run through simulations closely tied to
the
material in the Morgan Kaufmann textbook "Computer Networks: A Systems
Approach, Third Edition," written by Larry Peterson and Bruce Davie. With
these labs, readers can visualize the discussions covering core network
topologies. Various scenarios are presented within each topology, and review
questions and a lab report exercise accompany each lab experiment. The manual
covers the core networking topologies and includes assignments on the
ethernet, token rings, ATM, Switched LANs, Network Design, RIP, TCP, Queuing
Disciplines, QoS, and more.
"We are extremely pleased with the response we've received from the market
about our work with Morgan Kaufmann," said Todd Kaloudis, OPNET Vice President
of Business Development & Marketing. "With IT Guru Academic Edition, which was
designed to accompany the Manual, we reach another level of professionals that
will undoubtedly benefit from this kind of partnership," he added.
