FUJITSU AND 3PAR TEAM TO DELIVER UTILITY STORAGE SOLUTIONS

3PAR, a leading provider of Utility Storage, announced recently that Fujitsu PRIMEPOWER servers have been tested and jointly approved for use in conjunction with 3PAR InServ Storage Servers. Fujitsu and 3PAR customers can now leverage the combined benefits of these world-class server and storage solutions. To ensure additional confidence for customers' mission critical applications, the two companies have also entered into a cooperative support agreement for joint problem resolution.

The Fujitsu and 3PAR platforms offer distinct advantages for companies seeking to deliver IT services quickly, simply, and economically. Both platforms leverage modular, scalable architectures that offer unique pay-as-you-grow advantages. Yet each platform, as demonstrated through industry standard leadership performance benchmarks, allows customers to meet the requirements of the most demanding application or consolidation projects.

Mutual Fujitsu and 3PAR customers such as Matsushita Electric Works Information Systems Co, Ltd (NAIS-IS) are the principal beneficiaries of this new partnership. A wholly owned subsidiary of Matsushita Electric Works Ltd, NAIS-IS offers IT infrastructure services, ASP services, and services for multimedia streaming.

"The PRIMEPOWER line is the most scalable, highly available, and reliable family of commercial UNIX servers available today, offering the only 128- way commercial UNIX server in the industry," said Richard McCormack, vice president of product and solutions marketing at Fujitsu Technology Solutions, Inc. "We are pleased to offer our customers the opportunity and support they need to leverage this new category of storage. Our agreement with 3PAR demonstrates our on-going commitment to support our customers choice for best-in-class solutions in an open systems environment."

"We are delighted to enable 3PAR Utility Storage for the PRIMEPOWER customer base," said David Scott, president and CEO of 3PAR. "Customers in the U.S. and Japan are equally happy that Fujitsu and 3PAR have delivered on this qualification and cooperative support agreement. Our server and operating system platform support agreements allow us to bring Utility Storage solutions to customers seeking to consolidate and better utilize their storage infrastructures."
