POGO LINUX DELIVERS INDUSTRY'S 1st LINUX SERIAL-ATA SERVER

Pogo Linux Inc, a Linux hardware vendor headquartered in Redmond, has announced the immediate availability of its expanded line of StorageWare servers featuring Serial ATA technology. Serial ATA technology provides reliable, value driven servers for today's emerging enterprise needs. Pogo Linux chose Serial ATA drives because the emerging technology is more reliable than ATA and offers improvements in performance growth for the future. By using Serial ATA as the foundation for the new product, Pogo Linux ensures that users are guaranteed the scalability needed for entry server platforms. Pogo Linux selects only the best performing hardware for every solution and conducts extensive certification so IT managers can feel confident in its performance.

The Serial ATA StorageWare servers -- StorageWare S140, S212, and S316 -- range from compact 1U thru 3U rackmountable servers. These systems are powered by dual Intel Xeon Processors with Hyper-Threading technology and the latest Serial ATA hard drives from Seagate, a leading provider of storage technology to provide the end user with the highest level of reliability. They are configured with a 3ware 8500 Escalade Serial ATA RAID controller in a RAID 5 array to provide powerful, cost-effective storage systems. The advanced 3ware RAID technology, along with high-capacity Serial ATA drives, gives the StorageWare servers the fastest possible ATA disk performance at a fraction of the cost of high end SCSI-based new alternatives. IT managers will benefit from Serial ATA over current ATA drives three ways:

  • Serial ATA enables support for hot-swap
  • Better data reliability with 32-bit (CRC)protection on both command data and data on the bus
  • Smaller cables, allowing for better airflow throughout the server

Designed to be a complete out-of-the-box, network attached storage (NAS) server, the StorageWare servers with Serial ATA provide the most redundant storage available in a dense, rackmountable footprint. With up to 2240GB of redundant storage in a RAID 5 configuration, the systems feature sufficient storage to house a small to medium sized company's database, hold data backups, or use as a dedicated file server.

"Our customers have asked for powerful, reliable servers that won't cost them an arm and a leg. Serial ATA is the next step in storage evolution with features such as hot swap," says Tim Lee, president of Pogo Linux. "We understand that powerful, reliable storage is vital to our customers' success."

Designed for high performance database environments, the Pogo Linux Serial ATA StorageWare servers incorporate the latest in storage advancements, including enterprise-class component selections, and optimizations within the Linux operating system to extrapolate the most performance, both hardware and software, from the system.

The Pogo Linux Serial ATA StorageWare servers enable IT managers to meet the evolutionary demand for more cost efficient reliability in low transactional applications. The Pogo Linux commitment to reliability and performance is complemented by a commitment to value. Starting at $3499, the StorageWare S server line is available now at www.pogolinux.com.
