Extreme Networks Builds Advanced 10-Gigabit Metro Network

Extreme Networks, a market leader in Metro Ethernet networking, is providing the 10 Gigabit Ethernet SUPERDemo network at this week's SUPERCOMM 2003 (June 3-5; World Congress Center, Atlanta). Extreme Networks' Craig Easley is leading several tutorial sessions on the deployment of Metro Ethernet networks and emerging Ethernet in the First Mile technologies.

Extreme Networks is the lead hardware sponsor building and operating the Core SUPERDemo Metro Ethernet Network, located at the Metro Ethernet Forum's (MEF) Booth #10115. This demonstration network will showcase a highly available IP network infrastructure running Ethernet services that are based on the work of the MEF Technical Committee. The SUPERDemo network will feature interoperability demonstrations of both e-Line and e-LAN Metro Ethernet services. Extreme's award-winning BlackDiamond modular switching platform configured with industry-leading Layer 3 10 Gigabit Ethernet will provide scalable switching performance.

In conjunction with SUPERCOMM's education program, Extreme Networks' Craig Easley will participate in instructive industry discussions regarding Ethernet in the First Mile technologies, located in the SUPERDemo theater, running Tuesday through Thursday during show hours. Easley serves as president of the Ethernet in the First Mile Alliance (EFMA). Extreme will showcase Ethernet subscriber access networking infrastructure that assists carriers with the deployment of revenue generating broadband IP and Ethernet-based services.

"Metro Ethernet has emerged globally as a viable technology in the public network that allows carriers to increase their efficiency and improve their profitability," said Craig Easley, office of the CTO for Extreme Networks. "Extreme Networks is working with industry groups such as the MEF and the EFMA to deliver these technologies to carrier customers. The solutions meet globally accepted technical standards for Metro Ethernet networking and are ready for deployment."
