Network Associates Launches Sniffer s6040
Network Associates Inc has announced the Sniffer Technologies s6040 solution
-- the industry's first blade-based appliance for performance and fault
management at the core of high-speed networks worldwide. With room for up to
four blades that support full-duplex gigabit links, the Sniffer Technologies
s6040 appliance offers customers worldwide unmatched monitoring performance
and superior high-speed capture capabilities with run time aggregation for
their networks. The Sniffer Technologies s6040 solution is designed to provide
powerful visibility and performance optimization for the most complex network
and application architectures that reside at the core of the enterprise,
including multi-link trunks, asymmetric routing and load balancing.
The Sniffer Technologies s6040 solution is a key component to the Network
Associates Sniffer Network Protection Platform. Designed to safeguard
information technology (IT) infrastructures from malicious threats and
performance issues, the Sniffer Network Protection Platform consists of
cutting-edge network availability and performance management solutions from
Sniffer Technologies that are focused on protecting the network, from the core

network utilization and with traffic bursts to one hundred percent
utilization. The new Sniffer Technologies s6040 solution is designed to enable
network professionals to effectively baseline network performance for easier
and faster problem identification of some of today's most complex network
anomalies.
- Flexible Modular Design: As the industry's first single-box appliance for
network monitoring and analysis at the core of the enterprise network, the
Sniffer Technologies s6040 solution accommodates up to four independent
full-duplex Gigabit media modules for a total capacity of eight Gigabit
lengths, allowing for flexible configuration and management, and future
expansion with reduced physical space requirements.

the core of the network by aggregating data from any combination of up to four

Compatibility with nPO Solution. Fully compatible with the Network Performance
Orchestrator (nPO) solution, the Sniffer Technologies s6040 appliance is
managed by the nPO Manager product to ensure data analysis security. Also, the
nPO Visualizer product collects data from the Sniffer Technologies s6040
appliance to report capacity planning and trend analysis information in order
to better manage and secure the network infrastructure.
