Former Sun VP Joins Silicon
Bandwidth Board Of Directors
The drive to market its high-performance, low-cost interconnect platforms
just
got a turbo-assist for Fremont-based Silicon Bandwidth Inc, which announced
the addition of former Sun Microsystems executive Anant Agrawal to its Board
of Directors.
Until May 2002, Agrawal spent 18 years at Sun Microsystems. He was
responsible
for Sun's Microprocessor development and embedded boards business.
Additionally he managed all of Sun's Design automation and Semiconductor
product/test activities. Most Recently he was VP/GM of networking and security
business unit.
He's recognized for creating a culture more akin to a fleet-footed start-up
in
a global blue-chip enterprise like Sun Microsystems.
According the Alan Salzman, chairman of SBI's board and Founding Partner of
VantagePoint, a technology-oriented investment firm, "Anant brings an
impressive record of success plus outstanding organizational experience in the
same technology spaces that Silicon Bandwidth occupies. He's worked closely
with the same kind of talent already on our Board and company leadership. I'm
excited to help guide Silicon Bandwidth's drive to bring its products and
technologies to multiple markets," said Agrawal. "We're already actively
pursuing an overall vision for the organization with a multiyear product
strategy. That will likely involve expanding the product line families, plus
aggressively seeking inroads to numerous industries, some we may not have even
yet considered."
Agrawal earned his Master's of Electrical Engineering from New York's
Cornell
University and a Bachelor's of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering
from prestigious Maharaja Sayajirao University in Baroda, India. In addition
to his achievements at Sun Microsystems, Agrawal has served such technology
powerhouses as STC Computer Research and Memorex. He's currently active on
various Boards, such as Real Intent's Board, PacRim Venture Partners'
Strategic Advisory Board, and the Boards of Directors for Specular Networks
and Seaway Networks, where he also provides sales and product strategy
advice.
"We're a great match," said Salzman. "Anant's led the development of
technologies from inception to market delivery, while developing close,
strategically advantageous partner and channel relationships with companies
like Fujitsu, Ericsson, Motorola, Lucent; helping Sun become a major player in
the telecommunications space."
Agrawal expressed confidence about his new Board responsibilities. "It's
great
to join such a talented team, helping build markets for a promising technology
like Silicon Bandwidth's next-generation I/O solutions. I'm pleased and proud
to be a part of it."
