Intel Strengthens Suite Of
Software Tools
Intel Corporation announced two versions of the Intel VTune Performance
Analyzers with support for the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 operating system
and Visual Studio .NET 2003 development environment. Intel VTune Performance
Analyzer 7.0 and Intel VTune Enterprise Analyzer 2.0 make application and Web
performance tuning easier and more efficient on individual or multi-tier Intel
processor-based platforms.
The VTune Performance Analyzer 7.0 supports the Intel Pentium 4, Intel
Xeon,
Intel Itanium 2, Intel PXA250 and Intel PXA262 processors. It supports the
Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 developer environment, which enables
developers to optimize applications and device drivers for the Windows Server
2003 operating system and the Windows platform using Intel processors.
The VTune Enterprise Analyzer 2.0 for Web Applications, .NET Edition finds
bottlenecks in multi-tier applications running across multiple Intel
processor-based systems and provides transaction level analysis and .NET
object-level diagnostics for a Web infrastructure.
"These latest versions of the Intel VTune analyzers demonstrate our ability
to
work alongside Microsoft to bring together powerful, interoperable tools and
technologies to make .NET development even easier," said Jonathan Khazam,
general manager of Intel's Software Products Division. "Intel's detailed
knowledge of the processor enables us to deliver tools, such as the Intel
VTune analyzers, that provide deep insight into how processor resources are
utilized both within a single system and between multiple platforms."
"Developers use the VTune Performance Analyzer from Intel because of the
optimization capabilities it provides when writing software programs," said
Marie Huwe, general manager for the Developer and Platform Evangelism Division
at Microsoft Corp. "The VTune Performance Analyzer helps developers deliver
high-quality software programs, and at the same time enables the applications
to take advantage of the latest Intel processor advancements."
In addition to the Intel VTune Performance Analyzers, Intel offers a suite
of
software development products that includes Intel C++ and Intel Fortran
compilers, the Intel Thread Checker 1.0 and the Intel Integrated Performance
Primitives software library. More information is available at

.
"Intel software tools, including performance analyzers, compilers and
libraries, emerged as the clear winner in our search for application
optimization tools for Intel Architecture," said Dr. S.M. Rao, chairman of the
Supercomputing Education Research Center at IISc in Bangalore. "We have
observed significant performance gains, and our adoption will help us develop
increasingly efficient code."
The Intel VTune Performance Analyzer 7.0 is available for the suggested
list
price of $699 from Intel and resellers worldwide for download and on CD-ROMs.
The Intel VTune Enterprise Analyzer 2.0 is available starting at the suggested
price of $2,500.
Intel, one of the world's largest chip makers, is also a leading
manufacturer
of computer, networking and communications products. Additional information
