New Grid Market Offering For IBM
zSeries Mainframe & Linux
DataSynapse Inc, provider of a leading grid middleware for enabling
applications for on demand computing, announced the grid-enabling of IBM's
eServer zSeries mainframe for Linux with DataSynapse's LiveCluster 3G.
DataSynapse's LiveCluster grid computing infrastructure allows customers to
harness zSeries platforms to operate as part of a virtual grid supercomputer,
leveraging their mainframe with distributed computing technology to
incrementally tap existing or new resources to meet application scalability
requirements.
Through DataSynapse's Web services application enabling functionality and
Linux for zSeries support, both legacy and next generation Linux applications
can now readily take advantage of the I/O and high availability functionality
and inherent compute power of zSeries mainframes, extending the breath of
applications running on these mainframes. In addition, for applications with
unpredictable compute resource needs, LiveCluster can augment zSeries
mainframes with distributed Linux xSeries resources in a single, scalable grid
operating environment providing on demand capabi lity that delivers optimal
application transactional load balancing and resource efficiency. The solution
is testing at multiple customer sites.
"DataSynapse's application-centric grid middleware combined with the IBM
eServer zSeries offers enterprises the ability to implement a virtual grid
application environment built on the firm foundation of the IBM mainframe,"
said Rich Lechner, vice president, IBM Enterprise Servers. "By combining
LiveCluster's workload balancing technology with the mainframe's advanced
autonomic capabilities, enterprises can rapidly direct processing power on the
grid to their highest priority applications."
"This offering reflects the strategic synergy of our partnership with IBM,
says Tony Bishop, vice president, DataSynapse. By leveraging IBM proven
eServer zSeries and Linux technologies, DataSynapse helps customers extend
their application operating environment to meet business needs in the best
possible manner based on factors of cost, performance and service level
requirements.
