Massey Pushes Grid Computing
Network
Massey University Auckland, which houses the home-built $250,000 Helix
supercomputer, wants universities and research organisations to form the
country's first grid computing network.
Head of parallel computing research Dr Chris Messom is asking organisations
to
link their computers to form a countrywide grid which would give unrivalled
parallel processing power to all those who were linked. Messom said the grid
would be available on demand to researchers to get fast results from large
amounts of highly complex data.
