Itochu Group To Launch Grid
Computing Business Report
Itochu Corp and two of its group firms will soon jointly launch a grid
computing business, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported, without citing
sources.
Grid computing is a form of networking designed to harness the processing
power of many computers to realize high processing performance at a lower
cost, it said.
The firm will target annual revenues of some 10 bln yen in the year to
March 2006 from various services related to grid computing, it said. Itochu
will team up with Itochu Techno-Science Corp and Science & Technology Systems
Inc, a group system integrator, to provide a comprehensive range of services,
from systems integration to maintenance, beginning late February, the paper
said.
The firm will also tie up with Platform Computing Inc, a major marketer of
grid computing software, to sell related software products, it said.
