HP & Arrow Sign Agreement With
LINUX NetworX
To Promote Grids
The HP-focused SBM Division of
enterprise
computing distributor Arrow
Electronics Inc, has signed an
exclusive North
American sales agreement with
Linux NetworX (Salt Lake City,
Utah), a leading
vendor of Linux-based grid
cluster solutions and management
tools.
"The Linux marketplace, and high-performance technical
computing in
general, are virtually exploding. As a result, Arrow is
aggressively
partnering with the organizations best suited to drive that
explosive
growth,
and that includes companies, like Linux NetworX, that have a
unique
value
proposition for their customers," said Charles McPherson, vice
president of
sales and marketing, SBM Division.
Linux NetworX uses
grid clustering
technology to link computers via high-speed
networks to form a
unified and
more powerful system. The kinds of solutions
Linux NetworX
develops are of
interest to customers with high-performance
computing needs in
fields such as
bioinformatics, exploration geophysics,
pharmaceuticals,
research and life
sciences.
Linux NetworX manufactures its own
end-to-end grid cluster
solutions called
Evolocity, based on 32-bit AMD or
Intel processors. To
provide its customers
greater flexibility and choice,
Linux NetworX has
partnered with HP to offer
Itanium 2-based systems for its
64-bit product
offering.
"This partnership with Arrow will open doors
for us in terms
of expanded Linux
clustering opportunities," said Stephen
Hill, president,
Linux NetworX. "Arrow
has the capability to accelerate our
growth on HP, and
the ability to aid us
in partnering with the HP sales
force."
One of
the attractions for new HP resellers like Linux NetworX
is Arrow's
PowerStart
program, a unique training and education curriculum that
consists of business
planning, demand creation and product training
programs
designed to help new
HP resellers shorten their time to
profitability.
To date, more than
200 new HP reseller sales and technical representatives
have been trained
through PowerStart. Linux NetworX believes its new
relationships with HP and
Arrow's SBM Division may allow it to double its
revenue in the coming
year.
