Storage:
3PAR Utility Storage Receives Qualification
With VERITAS
3PAR, a leading provider of Utility Storage,
announced it has received
VERITAS Software's qualification of 3PAR Utility
Storage in an Oracle9i Real
Application Grid Cluster environment with VERITAS
Database Edition/Advanced
Grid Cluster for Oracle9i.
Oracle9i Real
Application Grid Clusters is Oracle's platform for scaling and
ensuring
availability of Oracle server environments.
As a member of VERITAS
Enabled, a VERITAS partner program, 3PAR Utility
Storage was able to ensure
that its hardware solutions were qualified in
conjunction with VERITAS'
storage management and clustering solutions so
customers can confidently scale
their storage incrementally with lower risk.
Altogether, the combined solution
provides a compelling platform for
enterprise customers' strategic
consolidation initiatives.
"VERITAS Enabled is designed to provide our
partners with the tools and
support to ensure that our joint products
interoperate seamlessly," said
Robert Soderbery, vice president of business
development for VERITAS.
"Through VERITAS Enabled, 3PAR is able to
test and support 3PAR's Utility
Storage in conjunction with VERITAS' market
leading high availability and
storage management products, thereby delivering
to customers a world-class
consolidation solution for Oracle9i RAC
applications."
Real Application Grid Clusters (RAC) is Oracle's
solution for increasing
availability and scalability while maintaining a
single database across
various servers to reduce manageability overhead.
Certified by Oracle, VERITAS
Database Edition/Advanced Grid Cluster for
Oracle9i RAC provides an industry
leading cluster framework and cluster file
system for implementing robust,
manageable, and scalable Oracle Real
Application Grid Clusters.
With support of VERITAS Database
Edition/Advanced Cluster, customers can take
advantage of the 3PAR InServ
Storage Servers' mission-critical availability,
high performance, and massive
scalability for their Oracle RAC
deployments. Altogether, the combined tested
solution instills confidence to
customers that their data consolidation
initiatives will reach a new level of
resilience and reliability.
"3PAR's qualification with VERITAS benefits our customers by reducing risk
for
their Oracle9i RAC deployments," said David Scott, president and CEO of
3PAR.
"Because 3PAR's Utility Storage are pre-tested with the VERITAS
clustering
software and Oracle9i RAC, customers are assured that the combined
solution
delivers rock solid availability."
3PAR is specially suited
for RAC environments because just as RAC server
resources can scale seamlessly
in multiple dimensions, so do the resources of
a 3PAR InServ Storage Server.
3PAR's clustered InSpire Architecture allows
granular elements of capacity,
performance, and connectivity to be added to
the storage environment
non-disruptively.
The enormous performance headroom and leadership I/O
latency of the 3PAR
InServ Storage Servers was recently established with a
world record SPC-1
Benchmark result. The SPC-1 Benchmark is the only
independent storage
benchmark and is designed to replicate an OLTP storage
workload.
3PAR's InServ S800 (8-node) result was 47,001.19 SPC-1
IOPS(TM), SPC-1 Price-
Performance of $24.90/SPC-1 IOPS and total ASU capacity
of 4,444 gigabytes
(data protection level of mirrored).
