Etnus TotalView 6.0 Provides
Improved Sun Grid Support
This release Includes the much-anticipated Sun 64-bit support, latest
compilers and operating systems, and improved C++ support.
Etnus, a world leader of debugging solutions for complex code, announced
the availability of Etnus TotalView 6. With complete support for the Solaris 9
Operating Environment (OE), Sun ONE Studio 7 Compiler Collection, and Sun 64-
bit addressing, Sun and Etnus customers will now have the development stack
they require for writing complex applications.
With improved support for Sun Microsystems products, Etnus maintains its
unrivaled leadership position in full-functionality, multi-platform, multi-
process and multi-language debugging.
The Solaris 9 OE and Sun ONE Studio are key components of the Sun Open Net
Environment (Sun ONE), the integration of Sun's award-winning portfolio of
software products with Sun's vision, architecture, platform, and expertise to
enable the development and delivery of Java services.
TotalView's full-featured source level, graphical debugger provides
application developers with complete control over applications. Features like
our famous dive capability, and the ability to test fixes before committing
them to code simplify and speed development. TotalView also offers unrivaled
support for applications that use multithreading and other parallel
programming techniques that enable applications on both distributed memory and
shared memory multiprocessor computers.
TotalView 6 has added support for Sun HPC ClusterTools Message Passing
Interface (MPI). With this new TotalView support, Sun's HPC ClusterTools users
enjoy TotalView's advanced features to aid in debugging MPI programs.
TotalView's barrier breakpoints and message queue visualizations, features
designed specifically with MPI programs in mind, provide insight into complex
multiprocess programs. This additional insight lets research scientists and
commercial developers find elusive bugs fast.
Customers are praising TotalView 6's support for Sun's latest products.
"We've used Etnus TotalView, Sun ONE Studio 7, and Sun HPC ClusterTools
separately for years," explains Dieter an Mey, head of the High-Performance
Computing team in the Aachen University Center for Computing and
Communication. "The integration of these products has provided me with a
higher level of software analysis I previously did not have. The best in the
industry now work together, and it's made my job much easier." Sun ONE Studio
is formerly know as Sun Forte Tools.
