Special Features:
ARM IMPLEMENTS Platform TO IMPROVE
ENTERPRISE GRID
Platform's IT analytics solution provides visibility into grid distributed
enterprise IT assets.
Platform Computing Inc announced that ARM, an industry's leading provider
of 16/32-bit embedded RISC microprocessor solutions, has implemented Platform
Intelligence and Platform LSF to better align IT resources with business
objectives.
Optimising the performance of ARM's IT infrastructure, Platform
Intelligence, an IT analytics solution, and Platform LSF, the foundation of
Platform's Enterprise Grid solution, is being installed across up to 1200 CPUs
at five design centres in the UK, France and the USA, and will integrate
existing Sun Solaris systems and newer Linux systems into an Enterprise
Grid.
"With Platform Intelligence we have a detailed, enterprise-wide view of IT
resource utilisation as it relates to individual projects, and therefore
corporate objectives," said Ibrahim Chadirichi, IT Development Director,
ARM.
"Information technology is a critical part of our business, and a major
proportion of our costs, therefore, we need to make informed decisions and
optimise our IT resources to consistently finish on time, on budget and
maintain our market leadership. Knowing how our infrastructure is performing
over time will provide the vital information necessary to add new resources
for new projects and maintain maximum efficiency and throughput within
acceptable cost limits."
The first 'IT Analytics' solution of its kind, Platform Intelligence
combines business intelligence technology with a highly scalable adaptive
agent framework to provide a solution for rapid decision-making. Going beyond
traditional operational and system management tools, Platform Intelligence
provides business-specific information that is correlated to expose the
interdependent relationship between distributed IT assets and business
objectives. Armed with this data, ARM is able to adopt a more flexible IT
strategy to ensure consistent service delivery, effective capacity planning,
and informed IT investments.
"IT decision makers need to make informed planning decisions about
technology investments, which requires in-depth insight into the computing
environment," said Kieran Lees, managing director for Northern Europe,
Platform. "With this solution, ARM can compare and contrast systems
performance and utilisation in real-world situations over extended periods of
time, and align these related IT services with the underlying business
objectives for greater impact on corporate performance."
With Platform Intelligence, companies can maximise enterprise resources
across multiple locations to run hundreds of ongoing projects and manage a
huge workload without unsustainable IT infrastructure expenditure. This
solution will improve time to market for new products, enable more informed
decisions on the purchase of new software and hardware, measure the return on
investment from IT purchases against business objectives, and reduce ongoing
expenditure on hardware and software licenses.
