NCSA EXPLAINS THE GRID
- The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) plays a
critical role in the evolution of Grids. The National Science Foundation's
TeraGrid project, led by NCSA and four other institutions, will take Grids

for open scientific research.

NBT GAINS FUNDING, PROMISES BROADER GRID WAN FILE-SHARING

- One more company is preparing to join the set of startups trying to speed
up client/server interactions across wide area networks. NBT Technologies,
based in San Francisco, has just snagged $6.6m in a series A funding round
led by Accel Partners, with LightSpeed Venture Partners as the second
investor.

FOUNDRY GROWS JAPAN'S NETWORKS WITH GRID SUPPORT
- WIDE (Widely Integrated Grid Distributed Environments), a project operating
Japan's major Internet exchanges, has deployed Foundry's 10-Gigabit Ethernet
solution using Foundry's BigIron 15000 Layer 3 Backbone Switch.

- PSNC is responsible for the management of a country-wide Polish National
Research and Educational Network, POL-34/622, and the Poznań Metropolitan

networks with high-performance computing and plays an active role in many
national and European R&D projects in the fields of Next Generation
Networks, Grids and portals.

- Axceleon, the leader in high-performance clustering and Grid computing,
announced that they have opened a field office to address east coast sales
growth.

- Intersil Corporation announced that D-Link Systems has selected
Intersil's PRISM GT Wireless Local Area Networking (WLAN) chip set to
provide 802.11g connectivity for D-Link's new AirPlus Xtreme G DI-624
Wireless Router with 4-Port Switch and the AirPlus Xtreme G DWL-G650
