NTT HAS United Devices BRING GRID COMPUTING TO JAPAN

United Devices, the market leader in secure grid software and service solutions, announced a partnership with NTT Data Corporation to bring large- scale grid computing to the Japanese market.

Under the agreement, United Devices will combine its MetaProcessor platform with NTT Data's existing expertise in broadband networking to provide a high- performance computing grid to businesses that will benefit from on-demand access to massive compute power.

"We've already seen the success our customers and partners are achieving in several different market segments in the U.S.," said CEO of United Devices, Ed Hubbard.

"The fact that NTT Data, Japan's top systems integrator, is providing this service to their customers bodes well for Japanese research and enterprise businesses who are showing strong demand for this level of computing."

Key differentiators that prompted NTT Data's selection of United Devices were the proven scalability of the MetaProcessor platform, the ease of migrating commercial and proprietary applications and the industry's leading security framework.

"We are conducting a large-scale trial, utilizing the MetaProcessor platform as well as some hundred thousand PCs on high-bandwidth Internet connections to demonstrate the value of high-performance grid computing in solving research and business problems," said Cell Computing Project Reader at NTT Data Corporation, Shoji Yarimizu.

"Our success with these sectors will set the stage for commercial use of grid computing in Japan."

By leveraging the resources of existing assets, enterprises can now expand the scope of research, accelerate the delivery of results to market, and drive product quality while controlling or even reducing computing budgets.

United Devices patent-pending MetaProcessor platform enables organizations to dramatically enhance the performance of their compute-intensive applications by aggregating compute resources across grid clusters, servers, workstations, and PCs.
