FIRST GLOBUSWORLD CONFERENCE TO BE HELD
Event will be at the Hilton San Diego Resort, January 13-17, 2003

In a further sign that Grid computing is coming of age,
the inaugural GlobusWorld conference
will occur in San Diego next January. The event
will feature 2 and 1/2 days of invited talks, panels
and posters focused on the Globus Toolkit^TM,
a set of software and service that is the de facto
standard for Grids.

WIDE AREA GRID MAKES EFFICIENT USE OF AVAILABLE BANDWIDTH: The High-Performance Bandwidth Challenge awards announced last week at SC2002 established new records for network performance, with one winning application demonstrating a five-fold increase over the previous top-mark set last year.
UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ADDS SECOND DELL GRID CLUSTER: The 300-node grid cluster recently achieved 2.004 trillion floating-point operations per second (Teraflops) of sustained performance in the LINPACK benchmark test.
IBM PUSHING AUTOMATED SERVER GRID CLUSTERING: The application server simplifies management through features IBM claimed are part of its nascent autonomic computing strategy for self-healing of systems. These features include the ability to detect and correct faults and automated server grid clustering.
Marconi SHOWS OFF SUPERCOMPUTING GRID: Marconi's demonstration modeled a global supercomputing grid that expands the bandwidth available to both legacy and next-generation packet-based networks for secure, high-speed transport of mission-critical information.
PACELINE & JNI ROLL OUT 10GBPS SOLUTION FOR GRID CLUSTERS: JNI believes that simple grid clustering will start taking off over the next six months, driven first by the supercomputing space, and then for commercial customers, as Oracle and other database vendors add direct support for InfiniBand protocols such as DAPL and SDP.
WulfKit GRID CLUSTER TO SUPPORT AMD HAMMER TECHNOLOGY: Dolphin's high-speed WulfKit grid clustering solution is currently implemented in several superclusters built on the AMD Athlon MP platform, two of which are ranked on the Top 500 supercomputer list.

RackSaver EXHIBITS GRID CLUSTERED SOLUTIONS AT SC2002: RackSaver, a leading provider of high-density individual rack-mounted computer servers and supercomputer grid clusters, exhibited multiple grid clustered supercomputing solutions at SC2002.

AUSTRALIAN GRID RESEARCHERS TAKE TOP SPOT IN US COMPETITION: A team from the GRIDS (Grid Computing and Distributed Systems) Lab at Melbourne University won first place in the HPC Challenge Global Grid Competition held at the IEEE/ACM Supercomputing 2002 in Baltimore.
Oracle TO LAUNCH GRID PRODUCT AT ORACLEWORLD: Oracle's transportable table space, unified sharing architecture, distributed database technology, applications portability, scheduler and resource management make it a natural fit for grid systems.
LAMBDA JOINS AWARD WINNING GRID DEMO AT SC2002: A stream of data was moved over SURFnet connecting a grid cluster of computers at SARA Computing and Networking Services in Amsterdam and a grid cluster of computers at StarLight in Chicago at over 2.8 Gb/s.
