By Wolfgang Gentzsch, Director, Grid Computing Sun Microsystems
- After two earlier definitions of Grid Computing, in 1998 and 2000, Ian Foster's new proposal of a checklist for determining whether a system is a Grid or not, is certainly a very valuable and respectable effort, especially in the light of the current "explosion" of worldwide interest in Grid which also causes some legitimate concern within the research community, and confusion elsewhere.
